Abstract Body: Population geneticist, bioinformatician, STEAM-activist, educator, motivational speaker, and podcaster, Dr. Janina M. Jeff is the first African American to graduate with a PhD in Human Genetics from Vanderbilt University. She is currently a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist at Illumina, where she develops pipelines for content annotation and the selection and design of population specific genome-wide content for Illumina’s genotyping array portfolios to enable healthy population screening. Before Illumina, her research career was largely focused on the discovery of genetic loci that impact admixed populations, Hispanics and African Americans, for complex common diseases.
